M-79    - The M79 grenade launcher is a single-shot, breach loading, shoulder-fired weapon designed to cover the 50 - 300 meter area between the hand thrown grenade and close mortar support. It's like a giant shotgun that shoots spherical 40 mm high explosives grenades that produced over 300 fragments for a 5 meter killing radius. For safety the rounds HE rounds were armed by the spin imparted by the rifled barrel after 15 meters of flight. It also has a shotgun round firing twenty seven 00 buckshot pellets, smoke, riot gas, and illumination flares. It weighed 6.6 pounds loaded and was 29 inches long with a maximum rate of fire of 5-7 rounds per minute.
