Letter Home 28 AUG 68
Dear Mom and Dad,
I got first platoon of B Company. Right now they are the worst platoon in the company, but they're good men, so I expect to get them running smooth real soon. We left Hill 1089 today, or were supposed to. I came in to Dak To to coordinate the choppers to lift the company out and got stuck here because of rain, so while the company sleeps on the ground in the rain, since they already blew up their bunkers, I'll sleep on a cot in a tent here. I really don't have much time now cause I have to keep checking to see if I can get hold of about 23 birds (helicopters) and get the company out tomorrow. Love, Homer
