Letter Home
19 OCT 1969
Dear Mom and Dad,
I am now in command of Delta Company, located at Landing Zone Pat about 30 kilo's South of An Khe. There is
no action up here yet. In about 3 or 4 days I will be moving Delta to take up road security along QL 19
(14) from An Khe to the Mang Yang Pass. Around the 1st of the month we re going to move the entire Bn to
Bong Song, 30 kilo's North of An Khe, near the coast. I don't know what the area is like up there.
I am doing just fine myself and have gained my appetite back again. I am not to busy right now, but
probably will be the last of the month what with the move and all. I will write when I get a chance.
I now have a new DEROS (return date) of 15 March 1969 (the Ides of March, Caesar's death date). It's still
raining off and on so things get pretty bad every now and then, but no enemy action yet.
I have to go make a sneak guard inspection and get a little sleep, so bye for now.

Dear Mom and Dad,
I am now in the field as CO of Delta Company. I will write when I get a chance, so sometimes you may get a
letter a day, sometimes it may be several weeks between letters due to the fact we are "humping" (marching
cross country) and can't get any mail out.
I'm just fine and things are real quiet around here so far.
I need some stuff from home. I need an expanding file for note book filler paper (8 1/2 x 11). I also need 6 short hand pads (ring at the top and line down the center of page). I also need a plastic (trumpet) music folder to keep papers dry, clean, and easily read. The see through plastic kind used for marching.
