Dear Mom and Dad,

Just a few words to let you know I'm OK. The first two days here at Firebase-29 were total confusion of an order, that seems impossible. I landed first with my two platoons, but "C" Company was supposed to be here first. The bunkers were in a sanitary mess and we had to clean all of them. We are now rebuilding all of them. The way this place was built and organized, I can see why they couldn't defend it. Give us a week though and nothing could get in here. Got to go now.

Got a few more minutes. If I ever get by this next week, nothing will ever bother me again. The last few days have been utter chaos. I have two platoons, 66 men, half the company to keep fed, busy, and protected until "C" Company gets here and gets established, so they can assume control as they were supposed to, too begin with
Boy that sentence looks strange^

Am busy, tired, but fine,

Love,
Homer
